First Night Oneonta Board of Directors planning now for New Year's Eve
The First Night Oneonta Board of Directors is now planning wide-ranging events for Oneonta's downtown celebration on New Year's Eve. As in past years, First Night will feature local and regional professional musicians, dancers and performers in venues up and down Main Street. Also planned is a lively parade with the First Night giant puppets and fireworks at 10 in the evening.
The Board of Directors elected the following people to the First Night Board: Jackie Gibson, Lois Broach, Doug Howard, Jon Weiss, Dana LaCroix, Tina Brimmer, Galina Whitman, Tifanne Wells, Carol Mandigo, Janet Potter, Josh Hammonds and Wende Ebberts. Returning to the Board are Rich Murphy, Pam Strother, David Hayes (Chair), Paul Robinson (Secretary), Tina Brimmer (Treasurer) and Valerie Adams (Vice Chair). The Board thanks Tom Clemow and Mark Drnek for their long-time service.
First Night has already received $7500 in pledges including a generous gift from Robert and Nellie Gipson. The Board is confident that fundraising for 2011 will fully fund this long-time Oneonta tradition that typically draws about 2,000 residents and visitors downtown. This year's theme is "It Happens in Oneonta," relating to Oneonta as an exciting hub of creativity and enterprise.
