Canadian Pacific makes donation to First Night Oneonta
Canadian Pacific has made an important contribution to First Night Oneonta. “We enjoy working directly with the communities where we do business,” notes Jennifer Hunt from Canadian Pacific. “We are delighted to be part of Oneonta’s First Night celebration.” In the works are a celebration of arts and culture downtown with childrens’ activities, a parade, professional musicians and dancers up and down Main Street, plus a spectacular fireworks show. Canadian Pacific's donation to First Night Oneonta follows their annual Holiday Train which stops in the community in December to raise awareness, funds, and food, for the communities food banks.
“This early gift is incredibly meaningful because it jumpstarts our fundraising,” says First Night Board member Tifanne Wells. “It’s great to get Canadian Pacific’s endorsement here in Oneonta, which has a long and rich railroad history.”
The gift follows a separate large contribution from Nellie and Bob Gipson of the Tianaderrah Foundation. The Gipsons are long-time supporters of area educational, arts and children-oriented charities and see their gift as a means to help celebrate the performing arts in Otsego County.
