FIRST NIGHT PARADE

GUIDELINES

The Oneonta First Night Parade will be held on
Saturday, December 31st at 5PM
Please plan to get there early enough so that you can be ready to roll at 5PM!
Line-up is at 4 pm on Elm Street by St. Mary's Church.

The first order of business for those wishing to march is to register here:
Confirm that you are participating

Please give us your contact information, a brief description of what your group is planning to present and any requests in terms of where you would like to be placed in the line-up.
(For example: not too close to another musical group)

The Giant Puppets will be assembling at 4PM at Center Street School.

This year, First Night Oneonta is offering prizes to clubs and family groups that wish to enter and march in the parade.
We are especially looking for groups who would like to enliven the proceedings with music, singing, gong banging, whistle blowing, etc.!
Since it is likely to be cold weather, any performance for the judges should be limited to
one minute or less.
There will be prizes awarded in each of the following categories:

$100 Best of Parade
$50 Most Creative
$50 Most Colorful
$50 Most Musical
$50 Most Outrageous
$50 Most Humorous
$50 Most Enterprising
$50 Liveliest
$50 Best Use of Animals

The only rules and restrictions are that the entry not be dangerous to anyone’s health or, as we are a family friendly event, overly risqué!

So haul out those Halloween Costumes, Santa Suits, Funny Songs and Homemade Instruments!
Hope to see you there!
